Team Worldwide Wrestling Club coaches Rick Gumble and Lou Lombardo and Shamrock Wrestling Club coach, Scott Green recently earned national recognition from USA Wrestling for major contributions in the development and growth in the sport of wrestling.

Rick Gumble, a Binghamton, NY native, was named 2009 USA Wrestling’s Developmental Coach of the Year. This award honors the top coach in the nation working with age-group wrestlers and programs. Rick has coached at the local, State, and national levels for 25 years. He is currently the head coach at Chenango Forks High School and has been a state coach for NY-USA Wrestling for 19 years. He has coached 23 of his high school athletes to all-American status at the Cadet and Junior levels. Rick is currently a member of USA Wrestling’s Coaches Council. Rick’s passion for the sport and intensity mat side, has allowed him to continue to develop great student-athletes.

Lou Lombardo, of Team Titan/ Worldwide Wrestling Club in Rochester, NY, has been selected 2009 USA Wrestling Beach Person of the Year. The award is presented by USA Wrestling’s Developing Styles Program to a person who has made major contributions to Beach wrestling in the United States. Lou has been a leader on the local organizing committee and served as Tournament Director for the U.S. Beach Nationals in Rochester. Lou’s desire to organize a great event has lead to considerable media coverage, which in turn increased tournament participation by 60%. Lou just completed his first year as head coach at Irondequoit High School.

Scott Green, owner of the Shamrock Athletic Club and Shamrock Wrestling Club coach, has been selected 2009 USA Wrestling FILA Junior/University Person of the Year. The award goes to a leader who works with athletes and programs on the FILA Junior and University levels. Scott has served as a coaching staff member for NY-USA Wrestling for 17 years. This year, The Shamrock Wrestling Club produced a University nationals champion and a FILA Junior Nationals champion. Four athletes earned all-American status on the University level and four others earned the same status in the FILA Junior tournament. Scott serves as an assistant coach at Binghamton University.
