The 2008 Asics Wrestling Shoes are now available. The Asics Institute of Sport Science has again developed state of the art wrestling shoe technology to assist in your performance on the mat.
Leading the 2008 new group of shoes is the Asics UltraTek. The most technically advanced shoe in ASICS line-up. Wrestling-specific I.G.S. allows the wrestler's foot to work more efficiently on the mat. Air circulation throughout the sole and upper creates a cooler and drier environment. Memory foam lined heel collar molds to the athlete's heel, creating a more personalized fit. Ortholite sockliner manages moisture and odor within the shoe. Grooves on toe area adds flexibility during the shot phase, Independent structure around the ball of the foot to faciliate drives, Medial grip enhances lateral traction, Smooth rotational axis on heel is designed for smoother turns. This is the shoe that many of the 2008 Olympians will be wearing. The next shoe is the Asiscs Supreme Lyteflex 2. Brought back by popular demand, the Supreme Lyteflex 2 features a laceless upper and is better than ever. The open mesh provides excellent comfort and breathability. Solyte midsole material is lighter than ASICS stanard EVA and spEVA, combined with improved cushioning and durability.
One of the more popular wrestling shoes continues to get better. The Asics Split Second returns for a 7th edition. Features include a split two-piece sole for forefoot and heel to work more independently. Integrated lace cover complies with regulations.
The last new shoe Asiscs has developed is the Asics Matflex. The Matflex features excellent flexibility and is lightweight. Features include air mesh, which quickly dissipates heat and moisture, integrated lace cover which complies with regulations.
Here's a suggestion.....
When I was competing I always had two pair of wrestling shoes (one for practice/one for competition). When I first purchased the two pair I would alternate days wearing them for about a month. Then, one pair was designated for practice only and the other was for competition only. Shoes get beat up overtime so instead of having to buy a new pair towards the end of the wrestling season, I was able to simplify. Have you ever had to tape up a shoe during a match? Try this suggestion out, it will save you valuable match and practice time.
