It wasn't to long ago that athletes only had a few avenues for wrestling competition. USA Wrestling offered freestyle and greco-roman tournaments and there were some folkstyle tournament speckled here and there. USA Wrestling took a pro-active step in developing and promoting a new style of wrestling. Beach Wrestling. Beach wrestling hit the shores of lake Ontario last summer on Ontario Beach Park (Charlotte Beach). The tournament generated a variety of interest and massive success within the wrestling community, so much interest that Rochester was granted a three-year contract for the Beach nationals &World Team Trials. Athletes qualify for the World Team trials throught the Beach nationals event the day prior. Winners of the World Team Trials will compete in Durres, Albania in September at the World Championships.
A new event added this year is the National High School Beach Duals. Teams of high school age wrestlers will compete for a team belt and bragging rights. Team Worldwide/Team Titan is a proud sponsor of the National High School Beach Duals.
